Buying Art

Recently people have been emailing me questions on how they can buy the art from this web site, so to make it simple for anybody interested I will explain here forth. The easiest way to buy a piece of work would be to click the Purchase button bellow the image, doing this will take you to a Paypal powered buying page where the transaction can be made the same as any Paypal purchase are made. The buyer will then be contacted by the gallery by email to discuss the preferred delivery logistics of the piece of art, delivery price is automatically added by Paypal. If the work of art does not have a Purchase button or price tag, the best option for any interested buyers would be to contact me (Alisdair) via my email address so I may approach the artist and discuss sales or exhibitions. A similar route is best taken for any customer or curator interested in commissioning or exhibiting artists on this site.

Prologue

A short story about The Shepherd Gallery. The Shepherd Gallery (TSG) was set up about 3 years ago as a way for me to exhibit my art in a medium that would be available for anybody with access to a computer to see. I had been doing a few exhibition since ending my degree at the WInchester School of Art and was struggling to get people interested in my work and I felt this was due to my remote and rural location (Stroud in Gloucestershire). So i bought a web domain and began to design TSG, initially i was exhibiting the art house films I made based upon the self and landscapes. The medium of the web site proved to be a great space to curette the films, I was very free to play with the space and curate within the boundaries of the computer monitor and this meant I had to do little in the way of painting walls, hiring projectors and renting gallery space, maybe its because I'm a bit lazy but it really seemed to work in a kind of neat avant garde sort of way, it felt like an appropriate way to be exhibiting in this post-modern phase of art we live and work in. Slowly TSG evolved taking on more artists and for every early exhibition TSG took on a new shape, for a while the layout was an overhead floor plan view like an architects drawing with gallery's, a black out room and a reception! I did however feel it was becoming a little over complicated and decided it was time to simplify the gallery and so evolved the shape of TSG you see today, with a permanent film player widget and artists section, blog's, news, publications and links. So the gallery continues to grow, produce and exhibit, soon we will be taking over the world (i hope).
