'Micky' pen on paper, 2008
Alex Day creates strange monologues and satirical impressions of life, using a cartoon esq black line drawing and grimey style, inputing graphic emotion and detail. The unusual and satirised characters in his work are often drawn with humorous or witty content, occasionally creating a ‘one-liner’ or a smug ‘joke’ within the work. Day studied art at the Wimbledon College of Art and the Winchester School of Art where he was best known for drawing pictures of monkeys.
